Fair Time . . . Went to surgeon today. I'll have to post an X-ray of my marvelous collection of hardware. Got screws and what appears to be baling wire!!! Makes me feel complete! Healing well, and I can start (gently) putting weight on it. Pretty full range of movement, without pain, even! Have to stick with the walker for another six weeks, then probably another six weeks with a cane. Will be starting another round of physical therapy later this week. But - I'm getting around well. Lots of stuff I can't do, no driving yet. But I can take out our Utility Vehicle (like a golf cart) and check out how fast the weeds are growing. Did pick and process some peaches, using my reacher/grabber. Also can drive along the fence row and pick blackberries. But no contact sports, no demolition derbies. No tractor driving (Aw!!). Getting in a lot of mandolin practice, though. Learning some songs that I have been wanting to add to my repertoire. Dug out an old square dance book. Old fiddle type tunes. I have a program that takes a short text type file, called a midi (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) - plays the tune on the computer, prints out the score with notation, and allows me to change musical key, speed, etc. Great for learning new tunes, or to just play along with. Even played a couple of gigs. Sit down jobs. Also work on Appalachian dulcimer, other string instruments. Ever see a Violin Uke (Ukelin) ? Do a search on google for ukelin to see and hear one played. One of my band buddies just turned 91 years young. See, music adds longevity. Keep on pickin' & grinnin'. Any of you remember - way back when - we had a picnic at the shelter on The Hill, and we did some square dances?? Probably not. Getting pretty good at word search puzzles. I haven't spent that much time on the Web pages, nor writing. I do check them daily, usually, just to delete the spam that they attract. You would be amazed! All sorts of stuff people want to tag on the blog sites. Comment: . . .php/2008/04/2009/02/04/mobile-tv-production-van#c232 Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done Edit/Delete: Now you tell me what this adds to the post on the mobile-tv-production van. Very seldom get anything that adds something useful, but it does happen. Keeps my DELETE key polished. Still haven't made it to Lu Ann's workplace. Some day, some day. If I can just keep out of trouble. Dan W.'s dad still has set stuff from WGSF that we haven't got moved either. Be neat to get some of that stuff from my barn and collection on display. Once I get where I can root around again, maybe Steve will select some for the museum. So, Hartford Fair coming up. Aug 8 - 14. At least I will be able to hobble in and watch the grandkids show. Still have 3 grandchildren in 4-H work. The place has changed a lot since we did the WGSF coverage. They have a neat natural resource area, with displays, timber jack shows, & frog jumping contests, among other activities. Lots of newer, bigger barns, paved roads, plenty of food stands. And much improved electrical service from what we had to deal with. Newark Advocate usually has good coverage, check it out on-line. Noted an obit for Carl Papai, who worked at Ch 10, in today's Dispatch. Produced and directed many shows at Ch10, including Luci's Toyshop, way back when. Neat guy to work with. Our Sheri (Short One) has to be way up the seniority list there. . . I always appreciate hearing from you. Using this address covers everybody on the list: Mail WGSF Listserver won't handle attachments, or really long posts. Until later . . . . (as we Hams say - 73) Mr. H.
